Connect your domain

Connecting your own domain takes three DNS records and some waiting for them to take effect.

The address you already have

Every Space gets one automatically:

your-space.customers.rubikc.com

It works immediately, serves over HTTPS, and is a perfectly real storefront. You do not need a custom domain to start sending people to your Space, and there is no rush. The your-space part is your Space Slug, which you can change under Settings › Domain.

What a custom domain involves

Three things, in this order:

1. Add the domain in Rubikc. Ten seconds.
2. Add three DNS records at your DNS provider, copied from the Domain screen.
3. Wait for verification. Your storefront answers on the domain as soon as it is Active. Then tell search engines to use it.

Three records, not one

A CNAME alone gets you a domain that resolves and then fails on HTTPS. You need all three records for the certificate to be issued — and they all have to stay in place permanently, not just until it works.

Use a subdomain

Point a subdomain at Rubikc — www, shop, store:

www.yourstore.com      shop.yourstore.com      store.yourstore.com

Your bare domain (yourstore.com with nothing in front) is best connected as a redirect: once www.yourstore.com is live, one more record sends anyone who types yourstore.com there. See Redirect your bare domain.

Before you start

• Access to your DNS provider. Wherever your domain’s records are managed — often your registrar, sometimes Cloudflare or your host. If someone else manages it, get them involved now rather than halfway through.
• The owner or admin role. Only they can add or change a domain.
• Time to wait. DNS is not instant. Do not start this an hour before a launch.
