Connect your domain

Connecting your own domain takes three DNS records, added in two stages, and some waiting for them to take effect.

Every Space gets one automatically:

your-space.customers.rubikc.com

It works immediately, serves over HTTPS, and is a perfectly real storefront. You do not need a custom domain to start sending people to your Space, and there is no rush.

Three things, in this order:

  1. Add the domain in Rubikc. Ten seconds.
  2. Add three DNS records at your DNS provider. One you get immediately, two more that Rubikc fetches for you afterwards.
  3. Wait for verification, then point your storefront at it.

Point a subdomain at Rubikc — www, shop, store:

www.yourstore.com shop.yourstore.com store.yourstore.com

Your bare domain (yourstore.com with nothing in front) can work with DNS providers that support ALIAS or ANAME records. It is not recommended, and on providers without those records it cannot work at all.

  • Access to your DNS provider. Wherever your domain’s records are managed — often your registrar, sometimes Cloudflare or your host. If someone else manages it, get them involved now rather than halfway through.
  • Time to wait. DNS is not instant. Do not start this an hour before a launch.
