Build menus and collections

These are different things with overlapping words.

	What it is
Navigation	Your menus — the links customers use to get around
Structures	How cubes are grouped — closest thing to a collection
Categories	A product type and the filters that type shares — not a group of cubes

A Structure is a group of cubes. A Navigation menu item is a link. You often point a menu item at a Structure, which is where the confusion comes from. Categories are under Structure › Filters.

Add a menu item

1. Open Structure › Navigation.

2. Add an item and give it a label.

3. Point it at where it should go — a cube, a Structure, or a link to any address. Use a Folder or Section header to group items.

4. Save.

Each language has its own menu. Pick the language at the top of the screen, or use Copy from language to start from another one.

Create a Structure

1. Open Structure › Structures.

2. Create a Structure, and give it a title and handle.

3. Under Cubes in Structure, choose Add Cubes, then drag them into order.

The same screen has a separate Pinned Cubes card. Pinning puts a cube first in that Structure’s feed; it does not add the cube to the Structure. See Pinning cubes.

A cube can be in more than one Structure. Nothing stops a product being in both “New in” and “Sale”.

Which do I want?

Tip

If you are trying to group products, you want a Structure. If you are trying to give someone a way to reach them, you want Navigation. Usually you want both: a Structure holding the cubes, and a menu item pointing at it.

Keep menus short

A swipe-first storefront is mostly browsed by swiping, not by navigating. Menus are a fallback for people who know what they want. A long menu is usually a sign the Feed is not doing its job.
