How your content gets in

Getting content into Rubikc happens in three stages, and they are deliberately separate.

Connect, sync, transform — the three stagesConnecta systemonceSyncinto your Inboxrepeatablechanges nothing liveTransforminto Cubesrepeatableyour edits are keptCubesYour catalogue only becomes a storefront at the last step.

Connect links a system to your Space. You do it once per system, and it moves no data by itself.

Sync pulls what is in that system into your Inbox as Sources — your catalogue as it arrived, untouched. Nothing is live at this point.

Transform turns Sources into cubes and blocks. This is where the decisions are, and where your storefront actually takes shape.

Because syncing is safe and transforming is where the choices live.

A sync only brings data in. It changes nothing on your storefront and nothing in the system it read from, so you can run one whenever you like without thinking about it. That means you can sync everything and then transform selectively — pulling in your whole catalogue while building cubes from only part of it.

For most merchants this happens once, during onboarding: Shopify is already connected, you sync your catalogue, and you transform it into cubes. See Sync and transform your content.

After that you come back here when you add another system, or when you want to change what your imports build.
