Block defaults

Set how new and existing blocks of a type should look — once, for this Space.

A block that does not set its own alignment, colour, background, or gallery option follows these defaults. Change a default here and every block that is still following it updates. A block you have styled yourself keeps that value. Clearing a colour on one block uses the Styling tokens even if this page has a colour; Use Space default follows this page again.

Each block type has the options that type actually uses: heading alignment and colour on text, automatic image switching and the blurred image background on galleries, the bottom shadow on main feed cards, and so on.

Every block type here also has a Background: a colour, gradient, image or video behind the whole block. Leave it unset and blocks of that type have no background. A block that sets its own background keeps it as a whole; it does not mix with this one. To keep one block plain when the Space has a default background, open that block’s background and choose No Background.

The generated blocks are styled here too: Automatic referenced products (the cube’s up-sell and cross-sell cubes), Add to cart hint, and Swipe back help. Their wording and the cubes they promote stay generated, so what you set is how they look — alignment, colours, whether the heading and the line under it show, and the background. Heading enabled and Subheading enabled show or hide those lines. Swipe back help sets the text colour and the back button colours. Every one of those blocks follows this page unless you style it on a Version. See What goes on a Version.

Leave a colour empty to keep using the Styling tokens — the brand colour already styles buttons that do not set a colour of their own.
