How selling works

Shoppers browse and build a cart in your Space. When they pay, they move to your Shopify checkout. Everything before that point is Rubikc; everything from checkout onwards is Shopify, exactly as it is today.

  1. A product cube. Prices, variants and stock come from Shopify, so there is nothing to keep in step by hand. The name, options and add-to-cart label follow the Shopify translation for the language a shopper is viewing, and the price is the one for their country. See Create a cube.
  2. Add to cart. Product cubes keep an add-to-cart control on their Feed card and inside the cube. Shoppers pick a variant, and a subscription plan if the product has one.
  3. The cart. The cart opens inside your Space, so shoppers can keep swiping after adding something. The product name, variant and subscription plan on a cart line follow the language the shopper is viewing, the same as on the Feed card. Smart Cart adds rewards, offers and reassurance there.
  4. Checkout. Shopify checkout, with your payment methods, shipping rules and discounts. The order lands in Shopify like any other.

On a Bókun experience, add to cart opens Bókun’s booking calendar in a sheet on the cube, and the booking and payment happen in Bókun. In analytics, opening the calendar counts as an add to cart for that cube, going on to Bókun’s checkout counts as a checkout, and a booking counts as a purchase when its payment page returns the shopper to your Space.

A product with no available variant shows an Out of stock badge on its Feed card, and its add-to-cart control is disabled. To leave these products out of the feed altogether, turn on Hide out-of-stock products in Feed.

An item that sells out while it is already in someone’s cart stays visible there, so the shopper can see what happened.

On a cube’s Merchandising tab, Buy button controls whether the button shows the product image, title and price. Use cube title shows the cube’s own title instead of the product’s — useful when an editorial cube sells a product under a different name.
