Subscriptions

If a product has subscription options in Shopify, shoppers can choose them in your Space. Checkout and billing stay in Shopify.

After picking a variant, the shopper sees that product’s subscription options before the cart opens. They can also buy once, if the product allows it in Shopify.

Each option is labelled by how often it repeats, in the shopper’s language — for example “Every 2 months” — with its price and how much it saves compared with buying once. A plan with no regular interval uses the name you set in Shopify.

A product sold only as a subscription stays available in your Space. Shopify may still remove it from Point of Sale, which is a separate channel.

  1. Set up the subscription in Shopify — with Shopify’s own subscriptions, or with an app such as Recharge that creates the options on the Shopify product.

  2. In Shopify, accept the selling-plans permission on the Rubikc app. Until you do, Shopify does not share subscription options with Rubikc. One-time purchases keep working either way.

  3. Sync the product again so the options arrive on its cube.

  4. Open the product on your storefront, choose a plan, and add it to the cart.

Later deliveries are billed in Shopify. Customers pause, skip or cancel in their subscription portal, and your menu can link to it. Set this in Integrations, in the Shopify settings under Customer accounts:

Your setup What to set
Customers use Shopify customer accounts Turn on Show Account in navigation. The Account page is the portal.
A separate portal, such as Recharge classic Leave Account off and enter the Subscription portal URL. For Recharge classic this is usually your store domain plus /tools/recurring/login.

Either way, the link appears as the last item in your storefront menu. See Checkout and customer accounts.
